SIMMITRI, known for their driving arrangements, is a duet comprising of pipes/whistles and clarsach. Forming in 2017, John Dew and Helena Rose are currently students at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and have collaborated to produce a unique and distinctive style and timbre. Although their material so far is rooted in sets of tunes, which range from being driving and exciting to lilting and airy, they explore the possibilities of through composed work and the fusion of traditional and classical music, drawing from their own individual influences. Much of their material is original, with their own compositions inspired by the contemporaries of today’s traditional music as well as looking back at much older music of Scotland. They compile music not only from piping and harp sources but also from fiddle, piano and flute traditions.

Making a successful debut at Falkirk Folk Club, this dynamic duet have had performances at Crieff Folk Club and Piping Live! They also perform at weddings and private functions including playing for HRH Prince Charles Duke of Wales at Dumfries house in Ayrshire.
