The National Piping Centre Otago Street sees the launch of “From Scots Borderer to Ulster Scots by Iain Bell. This is a fantastic collection of new pipe music, written in the ‘auld style’. Iain Bell’s collection includes his tunes broadcast by BBC Scotland’s ‘Take the Floor’ programme and also the joint R.S.P.B.A./Commonwealth War Graves Commission prize winning slow air for WW1. The story behind each tune is included. This beautifully illustrated book celebrates the common heritage of the Lowland Scot, the Ulster Scot and those of that hardy breed who sailed off to frontiers new in Canada, America, Australia, New Zealand and around the world.
Come along to hear some of the tunes performed by 5 outstanding young players: Bobby Allen, Alastair Donaghy, John Dew, Stuart Currie, Kyle Currie. There will also be a few tunes from renowned dance band leader Iain Anderson on the Accordion to give the tunes a different slant.
