In this new edition fifty nine of the tunes have been set to bagpipe notation. The manuscript was compiled when the piper to the laird of Raasay, James MacLeod, was John MacKay. The foremost piper and teacher of his day, many pipers flocked to learn from the master, who himself was taught by the MacCrimmons and the MacKays of Gairloch. The book, available in spiral bound for ease of use, is a completely updated edition where the pipe tunes have been edited and transcribed by Peter Cooke and Dr. Angus MacDonald. Many tunes are previously unknown and others are early settings of more familiar tunes and masterpieces of Gaelic song.
There will be performances of the music by Dr Angus MacDonald and friends with the book available for sale at £25.
