Angus John MacColl is a rising star in Scottish solo piping, hailing from Benderloch, Scotland. Son of renowned piper Angus D. MacColl—himself a multiple Gold Medallist—Angus John has swiftly made a name on the competitive circuit.
In May 2025, he took first place in the MSR and placed third in the Piobaireachd, which earned him the overall Premier & A-Grade title at the prestigious Highlands & Islands Solo Piping Competition. He is also the proud recipient of the PM Angus MacDonald Trophy in the A‑Grade MSR at the prestigious Captain John A. MacLellan Memorial Contest in 2019.
Carrying on the legacy of his father—one of the most respected figures in the piping world—Angus J. now competes at the Gold Medal level, steadily earning recognition for his skill and musicality. With his talent and strong heritage, he is widely seen as a leading figure among the new generation of Highland pipers.
