He learnt from Iain MacFadyen in his early years and after leaving school received tuition from Iain MacDonald, Glenuig whilst studying Music Performance at Lews Castle College, Benbecula.  Angus has toured extensively and has released two albums with his own group – The Angus Nicolson Trio and he also plays with piping quartet Seudan.  Angus is equally at home on Highland Pipes and Bellows Pipes and has become well-known tutor and session musician too.  He has featured in a wide range of projects and commissions, covering every base from Fergie MacDonald to The BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. Angus is twice winner of the Raasay Piping Competition, a competition started in 2024 to re-connect piping with its Gaelic roots. Angus now lives in Fort William and fronts new highland supergroup “Prasgan” alongside Ewen Henderson.
