Brisbane Boys' College Pipe Band

Brisbane Boys' College Pipe Band

The Brisbane Boys’ College Pipe Band, based in Queensland, Australia, was established in 1939 as a Fife and Drum Band. In 1940, the addition of bagpipes marked the beginning of its evolution into the renowned Pipe Band it is today. Now an enduring symbol of the College, the band plays an integral role in school life, performing at assemblies, sporting fixtures, church services, open days, and a wide range of College events.

Beyond the campus, the band is a proud presence in the wider community, regularly performing at significant occasions such as ANZAC Day parades and other public events. Since 1976, members have worn the Ancient Hunting MacLean tartan, which features the College colours of green, white, and black.

The Brisbane Boys’ College Pipe Band has had the honour of performing at The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo on four occasions—Sydney in 2019, and Edinburgh in 2018, 2022, and 2024. During these overseas tours, the band has also competed in the Scottish, European, and World Pipe Band Championships, earning top-six places in each.

The band’s members take immense pride in their contribution to both the College and the broader community. Committed to excellence in every performance, they are once again delighted to return to Scotland to participate in Piping Live and compete in the European and World Pipe Band Championships.
