Join Bruce MacGregor, founder of Blazin’ Fiddles, presenter of BBC Travelling Folk for a decade and owner of MacGregor’s Bar (Awarded Scotland’s best music bar twice!) for a weekend of immersive music making and fun.
MacGregor’s Bar has become THE place to go for traditional music in Scotland. From concerts to sessions to live broadcasts the bar has become mecca for tune lovers. The bar is the current holder of Best Music bar in Scotland presented by the Scottish Licensed Trade Award. Winner of Best Bar in Scotland from Visit Scotland and Number one traditional music bar in Scotland in the Sunday Times. This weekend will open with a broadcast of “MacGregor’s Gathering” which is streamed across the world. Tunes, chat and laughs aplenty
The workshops on Saturday, hosted at the National Piping Centre, will focus on Highland fiddle music that has been influenced by the pipes. The sessions will create a couple of pieces that will be performed on the Saturday evening, when Bruce will be joined by some of the key MacGregor’s Gathering musicians to create a ceilidh like no other.
Bruce MacGregor founded Blazin Fiddles and Blazin in Beauly (the band's music school) and was recently awarded the Inverness Medal for services to traditional music, presented by the Provost of Inverness
