Celtic Pipe Band

Celtic Pipe Band

Celtic Pipe Band

The Celtic (pronounced Keltic) Pipe Band, established in 2007 in Nelson, New Zealand, is dedicated to preserving and promoting the traditions of the Great Highland Bagpipe and pipe band drumming through performance, competition, and education.

With a strong focus on youth development, the band provides opportunities for people of all ages to build musical ability, confidence, discipline, leadership, and lifelong friendships.

From humble beginnings competing in Grade 4 in 2010, Celtic quickly rose through the ranks, becoming New Zealand Grade 4 Champions in 2012, New Zealand Grade 3 Champions in 2015, and New Zealand Grade 2 Champions in 2024. The band has established itself as one of New Zealand’s leading pipe bands, gaining international recognition with a 4th place finish in Grade 2 at the 2019 World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, alongside performances at major festivals and events in Scotland, Germany, and China.

The band operates as one united organisation with a strong culture of excellence, teamwork, and community spirit. Through quality tuition in piping, drumming, and performance, Celtic continues to inspire the next generation of players while actively supporting community events, national pipe band initiatives, and cultural connections around the world.
