He has managed independent publishing companies for 25 years and has enjoyed driving the international successes of companies as diverse as Canongate (2000–2006), Granta (2006–2009), Pavilion Books (2014–2021), and BT Batsford (2021–2025). During this time, he has been involved in the publication of numerous prize-winning and bestselling titles, and has led the businesses he’s managed to numerous trade successes, including IPG’s Independent Trade Publisher of the Year, the British Book Awards’ Publisher of the Year, and the Queen’s Award for Export and Innovation.
