Kyiv Ethno Trio is a pioneering Ukrainian folk ensemble that fuses traditional melodies with modern soundscapes, bringing ancient musical traditions into the contemporary world. Formed in 2017, the group has gained recognition for its unique arrangements and captivating performances both at home and abroad.
The trio is comprised of renowned musicians Maksym Berezhnyuk, Orest Krysa, and Volodymyr Ponomariov, each of whom brings deep expertise in ethnomusicology and multi-instrumentalism.
The group’s music celebrates Ukrainian folklore with a modern edge, featuring traditional instruments like the sopilka, telynka, and bagpipes, blended with global influences. Key releases include: Debut Album (2018): This album features a collection of traditional Ukrainian songs revitalized through intricate arrangements, such as
"Cossack Mowed Hay " and "The Cuckoo ", which showcase the ensemble’s commitment to preserving folk heritage. Recent Releases: In 2023, they released "White Sheep " and "Duda " pieces that exemplifies their innovative approach to reimagining shepherd melodies of the Carpathians, enriched with vibrant and playful rhythms.
