Pàdruig Morrison

Pàdruig Morrison, an acclaimed accordionist and composer from Grimsay in North Uist, presents a wide range of original tunes with piper and flautist Micheal Steele (both of Beinn Lee), along with new and enchanting Gaelic songs sung by Mischa MacPherson and Alasdair Whyte.

His debut solo album Buin (title meaning ‘belong') - released earlier this year - is a culmination of years of tunewriting, songwriting, and deep reflections on our relationship to land, place, culture, ecology, colonialism, and the Gaelic language.

A 2020 finalist in the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year, Pàdruig’s music is deeply rooted in his inherited Gaelic oral tradition. He effortlessly straddles the worlds of Scottish traditional music and contemporary classical composition, a synthesis he explored in his PhD research. Performing regularly with his band Beinn Lee, his music is a powerful, innovative voice connecting his Gaelic heritage with new compositional horizons.
