The Uplanders Pipe Band is a vibrant youth ensemble born from a unique collaboration between Upland High School in California and the Lander Pipe Band of Wyoming. United by their passion for Celtic music and tradition, these talented young pipers and drummers proudly don the striking MacDonald, Lord of the Isles, Hunting tartan and the Ancient Johnston tartan.
Led by Pipe Major Martha Hall and Drum Sergeant Henry Bautz, and guided by a dedicated leadership team that includes Melissa Bautz, Daniel Croissant, Ireland Rosa, and Andrew Koupal, the band represents a remarkable coming together of skill, spirit, and opportunity.
This summer marks a milestone: the Uplanders are heading to Scotland—a first international journey for many of the members, and a dream come true for the group as a whole. Along the way, they've already made a mark, competing at the Las Vegas Highland Games and earning the aggregate trophy in their grade at the Scottish Fest in Costa Mesa, California. Their final U.S. appearance this season will be at the Utah Scottish Festival in June.
Once in Scotland, the Uplanders will take the international stage, competing at the European Pipe Band Championships, performing on Buchanan Street for Piping Live, and participating in the inaugural World Youth Pipe Band Championships—a historic event where the next generation of pipers and drummers will showcase their talents on a global scale.
The Uplanders Pipe Band extends heartfelt thanks to all who have supported their journey. Your generosity and encouragement have helped transform a bold vision into an unforgettable reality.
