Meet neighbours to speak, exchange perspectives, celebrate and build trust with. Celebrate 10 years of Scotland’s anti-racist festival and 25 years since the occupation of Govanhill Baths. The day will start with our Parade, will be gathering at 12:00 at the Queens Park gates and marching through Govanhill towards our Carnival site in Govanhill Park where there will be an afternoon of arts, music and kids activities.
Starting point for the Parade:
Queen’s Park at the Victoria Road Gates / Time: 1pm (assemble from 12:30pm)
Starting at Queen’s Park, the Carnival Parade winds through Govanhill and into Govanhill Park — drums, banners, costumes, brass bands and community groups from across the neighbourhood and beyond. Featuring Brass Aye, Bloco Dandara, Nikkan Dance Academy, artist Freida Ford and many more, the procession moves through streets too often defined by stigma from the outside, celebrating the people, cultures and solidarity that actually shape life here.
Carnival Afternoon
Govanhill Park, 2pm – 5pm / Free Entry
As the parade arrives, the afternoon opens up. The live stage features Maz and the Phantasms, Makongo, Samba Sene and Romane Cierhenia. There will be food stalls and we invite you to bring a picnic. The Create/Disrupt Zone hosts drop-in activities led by local artists, makers and grassroots organisations. Explore stalls, make something, dance, eat, meet your neighbours.
*Mixed surfaces including grassy areas and paved pathways. Wheelchair accessible picnic tables.
Piping Live! is delighted to be working with Govanhill Baths as part of the Glasgow 2026 Festival to present come and try the pipes during their festival and will be taking part in the parade. You can find out more here.
