Following the success of last year’s pilot event – where we revisited the 78th Fraser Highlanders’ Live in Ireland – we are returning to the listening party format to celebrate another cornerstone of the pipe band tradition.

This year, in collaboration with Gary West and the Enjoy Your Piping podcast, we turn our attention to the Vale of Atholl’s seminal 1995 recording, Live ‘N’ Well.
There is a unique, quiet power in sitting with an album that fundamentally shifted the landscape of pipe band music and hearing it played in its entirety through a full house system. This communal experience moves the record from the background of a car or headset into a shared space, allowing us to appreciate the craft and innovation of the Vale at the height of their influence.
The session serves as a perfect companion to the "Live 'N' Well @ 30" tribute concert seen at Celtic Connections back in January. While that performance brought the notes to life on stage, this event offers a more reflective perspective. Chaired by Gary West, a panel of special guests will dive into the stories behind the tracks, deconstructing why this specific recording remains so vital thirty years on. It’s an invitation to slow down, listen closely, and enjoy a landmark moment in piping history alongside fellow enthusiasts.
This event will take place in the National Piping Centre Auditorium.
Please ensure you have Tuesday Festival Site Ticket or Week Pass as you will need this to access this free event.
