It's our first full day of Piping Live! 2024 and what a day we have!
The R.G. Hardie & Co. Masters Solo Piping Competition gets us started shortly and will run all day here at the National Piping Centre. At the same time we have the British Drumming Championship taking place at Otago Street from 9am.
We are out and about with a record breaking number of participants in the Piping Live! Big Band starting in Partick at noon and finishing at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum. The Buchanan Street Pipe Bands programme starts this afternoon with Durham Regional Police, Balerno Schools and Greighlan Crossing Pipe Bands all playing today.
Events at the Street Cafe here at the National Piping Centre are running all day and range from discussions to performances to the start of Pipe Idol at 3pm. Ally the Piper has arrived for her long awaited visit to Piping Live! and will be doing a Q&A performance at Street Cafe at 6pm. We round the day off this evening at Nice N Sleazy in Sauchiehall Street at 7.30pm.
The weather is going to be mixed today with rain throughout the morning and better weather forecast for this afternoon. It looks like a rainy Big Band this year, so if you are participating or coming along to watch please dress for the weather.
Keep your eyes on the news updates on the website to keep up with everything happening at this year's Piping Live!
