Throughout history, the Barrowland has evolved from a dance hall into one of Scotland’s most beloved concert venues.
The Barrowland Ballroom is distinguished by its exceptional features, notably its superb acoustics, attributed to the barrel-shaped ceiling featuring acoustic tiles. Furthermore, the Barrowland Ballroom retains its original sprung dance floor, greatly enhancing the experience for both artists and audiences.
Accessibility
WHEELCHAIR USERS: Currently, the Barrowland does not have an accessible lift. However, we utilise a mechanical “Stairclimber” (distinct from a conventional chairlift) that we have used safely for nearly ten years. Trained stewards operate the Stairclimber to transport wheelchair users to upper floors. Please note that we cannot accommodate power wheelchairs due to weight restrictions, but we can provide temporary wheelchairs for use within the venue.
SEATING AREA: Inside the main ballroom, we have a raised platform specifically for wheelchair users, with space for one companion each. Additionally, there is another raised seated area for ambulant persons, also with space for one companion each. Wheelchairs are restricted to the designated platform area in compliance with regulations.
