From the technical precision of the competition boards to the rhythmic drive of the West Highland dance tradition, these recitals celebrate the instrument in its purest form. This year’s lineup brings together four titans of the craft, each representing a unique branch of the piping family tree:

  • Monday: The innovative mastery of Bruce Gandy
  • Tuesday: The traditional craftsmanship and "cauld wind" expertise of Fin Moore
  • Wednesday: The legendary competitive pedigree of Murray Henderson
  • Thursday: The Hebridean soul and contemporary flair of Seonaidh MacIntyre

Whether you are a piobaireachd devotee or a fan of modern folk, these recitals provide a rare opportunity to hear the world's finest pipers in a premier acoustic setting.

Today's Performer is: Murray Henderson

Originally from New Zealand, Murray Henderson moved to Scotland in 1973 and quickly became one of the most decorated pipers in history. His competitive record spans five decades and includes four Glenfiddich Championships and an incredible six Gold Clasps—widely considered the world’s premier piobaireachd award. In 2016, his lifelong dedication to the art was recognized with his induction into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame.
Murray is a master of the "complete" piping tradition. Alongside his wife, Patricia, he established Henderson Reedmakers in 1985 and later launched Strathmore Bagpipes, playing instruments of his own design to international success. As a world-class mentor, his pupils have gone on to win every major award in piping, including Gold Medals and the Glenfiddich. Now a senior adjudicator at the most prestigious gatherings, Murray brings a wealth of knowledge and a legendary "Balmoral style" to the lunchtime recital series.

This event will take place in the National Piping Centre Auditorium.
