Today’s session consists of a performance of pibrochs with strong associations with the north Highlands, plus panel discussion and readings from the works of Neil Gunn, highlighting the timeless value of remote places and their expression in both literature and traditional music. In Kirsty’s own words, we explore how pibroch evokes an ‘ancient sense of being at the centre of the world, rather than remote from it: making the periphery central and valued’.
This event will be on The Bothy stage within the Festival Site. The programming in the Bothy and on Centre Stage are included in your Festival Site day or week ticket.

The centre serves as a national and international centre of excellence for the great Highland Bagpipe and its music. The Festival Site with the Centre Stage and Bothy Tent, as well as our food and drink tents will be on outside the Centre on McPhater Street. Ticket information is available here
